About Renewable Energy
Renewable energy share: the percentage of total final energy consumption that comes from renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and sustainable biomass.
Higher means a cleaner energy mix. The figure is a percentage of total final energy consumption. A high share can reflect geography (abundant hydro or wind) as much as policy. Compare against the trend over time to see whether a country is actually transitioning away from fossil fuels.
