The world's biggest seller of electricity is France
France sold 93 TWh more electricity than it bought in 2025, nearly three times Sweden, the next biggest seller. 67% of its electricity is nuclear. Its biggest customer is Italy, with 28% of its net sales abroad; the rest goes to Germany and Belgium, Britain and Switzerland (RTE). Germany closed its last reactors in 2023 and now buys more than it sells. In 2022 France itself had to buy, while many reactors were stopped for safety checks.
